The League of Women Voters of Collin County has joined together with the Texas Civil Rights Project to express concern with the vote to adopt hand-marked ballots at the June 9 Collin County Commissioners Court meeting. It appears that at that meeting a significant election policy changed without the specific public notice as required by the Texas Open Meetings Act (TOMA). Read the letter to Collin County Commissioners.
On Monday, 6/23, during the Commissioners Court meeting at 1:30, the League will make two public comments regarding the move to hand-marked ballots. Both the current and past presidents of LWV-CC will speak on behalf of the organizations above to request that the County Commissioners rescind funding and listen to concerns from community advocates that caution about this unnecessary policy change.
We need YOUR attendance to show the County Commissioners that the League of Women Voters is taking seriously their decision to move to hand-marked ballots. Please attend in your LWV swag!
