President's Message

December is a month for celebrating holidays with family and loved ones. At the League, we are already preparing for the March Primaries! The primaries give us a valuable opportunity to engage with candidates through our Candidate Forums. These forums play an essential role in educating voters and helping us continue to Empower Voters and Defend Democracy.

I encourage each of you to participate in these important events—whether by volunteering or attending one of the many forums we will host. We will be sending more information on dates for the candidate forums over the upcoming weeks.

Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season!

November 4 Election Review

Join us on Tuesday, December 9, for an online session with Kaleb Breaux, Collin County Election Administrator, who will provide a review of the November 4 election. Kaleb will discuss the transition to hand-marked ballots and what improvements are planned for the future.

Register here on our website. Once you register, you will receive a Zoom link.

If you are unable to attend, we will record the session and post it on our website.

Special Elections in Plano and Frisco - January 31
Early Voting - January 14-27

Special elections will be held in Plano and Frisco to replace city council members who resigned to run for other offices in 2026.

Use the following checklist to make sure you are prepared, then VOTE!

Voter Registrars Needed

Have you been curious about how voter registration works in Texas? Have you wanted to become qualified to register voters in Collin County but did not know how? Do you work weekdays, preventing you from driving to the Collin County Elections office in McKinney to take the short test to become a Volunteer Deputy Registrar?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, Collin County Elections has an answer.

Collin County Elections has setup a virtual class for December 17, from 6PM to 7PM. You do need a Google account to sign up for the virtual option. Go to the Collin County Elections website to register. Scroll towards the bottom of the page, click on Virtual VDR Training Labs, then click on Google Registration Form. Once the Google form is submitted and processed, the elections office will email you the WebEx meeting link.

When the training is completed, forms will be mailed to you to fill out and sign, and return via USPS to the elections office. Once those forms are processed, the elections office will mail you your certificate and everything else you will need to register voters.

Lunch with the League -  McKinney and Plano

Enjoy great conversation and connection at one of our upcoming LWV-CC buy-your-own social lunches. These events are open to all and provide a chance to discuss important issues while upholding the League’s nonpartisan policy of not supporting or opposing any candidate or political party. Feel free to bring a friend!

March 2026 Primary Election - What Do You Want to Ask the Candidates?

The Republican and Democratic parties will hold primary elections next March to choose their candidates for the November 2026 mid-term election. The Libertarian and Green parties will choose their candidates in conventions next spring. LWV-CC will cover all the races in the Collin County districts for US and state legislators, and the following Collin County offices: county judge and commissioners, clerk, JPs, district attorney, district clerk, state district court judge, county court at law judge, and party chairs.

Let us know what questions you would like to ask the candidates in our candidate forums. Send your suggestions to lwvcollin.forum@gmail.com.

Volunteer Opportunities

We have several opportunities coming up to register voters in Collin County. You must be a Collin County VDR (Volunteer Deputy Registrar) to register voters, and if you aren't a VDR, you're in luck as there is still time to get your VDR certification (see above) before these events in January. See the opportunities on our volunteer signup webpage. You may find these opportunities on the Members Only pulldown after logging into our website.
