President's Message

Election Day for the Primaries is March 3rd! If you didn’t have the opportunity to vote during Early Voting, be sure to make your plan to vote on Tuesday, March 3rd. Primary elections traditionally have lower turnout which means your vote carries even greater impact. Your vote is your voice, and it truly matters!

This year, the League of Women Voters of Collin County is focused on registering as many voters as possible. We are partnering with several nonpartisan organizations, including Collin County Votes, Lush, and March to the Polls, to expand our outreach efforts. If you are part of a nonpartisan group interested in collaborating on a voter registration event, we would love to connect with you — please email president@lwvcollin.org.

On March 28th, LWV Collin County will once again partner with the local No Kings group for the No Kings event. Look for our Unite & Rise 8.5 purple signs and join us as we stand together in support of our democratic principles. See article below to register for the No Kings event.

Be sure to check out the 2026 State of the League Dianna Wynn, President of the League of Women Voters of the United States! In her inspiring address, she shares how Leagues across the country are actively Empowering Voters and Defending Democracy in communities nationwide. It’s a powerful reminder of the impact we make together — from local action to national momentum.

Together, we can Empower Voters and Defend Democracy.

Primary Election - March 3

Tuesday, March 3, is the last day to vote in the Democratic and Republican Party primaries. If you didn't vote early, use the following checklist to make sure you are prepared to vote on Election Day, when polls will be open 7 am to 7 pm.
After the election, check the statewide results and Collin County results. Primary runoff elections will be held May 26, with early voting May 18-22, for races in which no candidate received more than 50 percent of the votes cast. Deadline to register to vote in the runoffs is April 27. If you vote in the March 3 Primary Election, you can only vote in the runoffs for the same party.

Program Planning Meeting

What issues do you want to learn more about? LWV-Collin County schedules public forums throughout the year to educate both its members and the general public on issues aligned with league positions and priorities.

Members are invited to join the program planning meeting  at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 5, to help determine which issues will be addressed in the 2026-27 fiscal year. Past programs have included post-election debriefs, the county water supply, environmental issues, and homelessness.

Bring your ideas to the Zoom.

Member Orientation: Get Plugged In!

Are you new to the League or looking to get more involved? Join us on Zoom for a Member Orientation on Thursday March 5th at 6:30 PM.

In just 30 minutes, we’ll help you navigate how our League works so you can find the best way to make an impact.

You'll meet fellow members, learn about the history and mission of the League, and learn more about the committees and the specific projects each committee handles. There will be time for questions at the end.

The orientation ends at 7:00 PM, at which point we will transition directly into our March Board Meeting. You are encouraged to stay for the meeting to see our work in action. Register here for the Zoom link.

Socializing & Civics

On Saturday March 7 at Haggard Library (2501 Coit Road, Plano), the League will host a free public forum on The Supreme Court: Past, Present and Future. Doors open at 10:30, the presentation begins at 11:00, and there will be time after for questions and socializing.

Recent presenter of one of our most popular programs, How the Roaring Twenties Shaped the 2020s, Chris Tucker is back to tell us all about the Supreme Court and answer some of our most burning questions. He will look at the Court's history, rules, traditions and some of its major decisions. How did the Court get so powerful? How does it decide cases? What do the Justices argue about? Do they like each other? Is the Court too political? What's the worst decision the Court ever made? And how will the Court rule this year on issues like birthright citizenship, tariffs, transgender rights, racial gerrymandering and expanding the President's powers? If you've ever wondered how the Supreme Court works, this is for you!

You can register for this presentation here. Members, please log in before registering.

This event is not sponsored by the Plano Public Library System or the City of Plano.
